Première Ligue: Émilie Byrnak signs for RC Strasbourg from Swedish giants BK Häcken | OneFootball

RC Strasbourg have signed 23-year-old Danish centre-back Émilie Carlberg Byrnak after her loan to German side Hoffenheim ahead of the 2026/27 Arkema Première Ligue season. The defender signs from Swedish outfit BK Häcken.

The French side struggled in the league last season, finishing seventh out of twelve. Head coach Vincent Nogueira will be hoping Byrnak will shore up their leaky defence going into the new season.

The Danish youth international had previously played for Swedish giants BK Häcken, Hoffenheim, Brøndby IF and FC Nordsjælland. It’ll be a welcome challenge for the young player. Byrnak will be looking to secure a senior place in her international set-up.

Byrnak’s contract is for two years. This should give the defender a chance to bed in and find regular first team football again. The Dane found herself left unused on the bench or left out of the squad entirely for Hoffenheim’s last nine league games. Her last game for Hoffenheim was a drubbing from Hamburg, with her side conceding four goals and scoring none.

What is next for RC Strasbourg in 2026?

Strasbourg have some strong players within their squad to push on and improve their standing in the 2026/27 season. Alongside new signing Byrnak, the Alsace based club have Polish international Natalia Wróbel. Also to call on they have Portuguese legend Fátima Pinto and Austria international Viktoria Pinther.

They will start their Arkema Première Ligue season against newly promoted Union Sportive Saint-Malo on the 5th of September. Strabourg will be looking to get the season off to a good start as their second fixture is a much harder task as they are hosted away to PSG.
