Presnel Kimpembe has resumed regular football with Qatar SC in Doha, three months on from his PSG departure.
According to L'Équipe, the 30-year-old received an emotional Parc des Princes farewell on 14 September during PSG's 2-0 win over Lens. With the Intercontinental Cup in Doha, the European champions meet Flamengo in Wednesday's 18:00 final.
He joined Qatar SC on 7 September. The side finished 10th of 12 last season and are coached by Spaniard Tintin Marquez. After 10 league games they sit fifth, two points off the podium, despite three straight defeats.
A right Achilles rupture in early 2023 and two operations left him with two near-blank seasons. Last term he managed five cameos totalling 76 minutes, prompting a summer departure.
Paris executives, doubtful he could be fully competitive quickly, offered no guarantees. With a year left, he moved abroad to play, a wrench but pragmatic, and the Champions League triumph made it easier.
On arrival he did a two-week accelerated programme to build fitness and adapt to heat above 40°C. He returned on 21 September with brief minutes in a 1-0 win over Al-Shahania.
Since then he has started regularly and completed full 90 minutes with mixed results. He struggled in the 1-5 defeat to Al-Arabi on 23 November, others were more convincing, and he still needs time to regain full sharpness.
