The Juventus Women’s First Team’s hopes of retaining their Women’s Italian Cup crown remain alive after an emphatic 7-1 win in the Round of 16 away at Cesena.
After the game, Coach Massimiliano Canzi and double goalscorer Michela Cambiaghi spoke.
“We started in the right manner and went two goals up very quickly. Despite conceding, then, we kept playing as though it had never happened. I liked the girls’ spirit today; they approached the game perfectly, and they paid the right level of respect to our opponents.
“We’re happy to have progressed to the next round, where we’ll come up against Napoli, which will be a more complicated game for us.
“We’ve played 24 competitive games this season - the girls even more when you consider their National Team commitments - so that’s a lot of matches. With that in mind, I believe it’s time for a rest. We’ll disconnect physically and mentally for a bit to then come back even stronger than before.”
“We know that we can’t underestimate these games, it was an important one for us. We started strong, and I’m happy that the team addressed the game in the right way from the off. We managed it well, and the goals we scored are thanks to everybody’s hard work. I’m happy to have scored, it’s important for a striker, and I’m pleased that we scored some nicely worked goals.
“Now we’ll rest a little, catch our breaths a bit over the break, and come back raring to go again. Now our focus is on the Women’s Italian Super Cup, which is up next.”
