Gianluca Prestianni has reached two years at Benfica, a milestone that changes his registration status. According to Glorioso 1904, the Argentine winger can now be listed on the Champions League List B as locally trained, which will become club trained status in two years.
That change frees up an extra List A slot for the European competition, and the expectation is that it will go to one of January’s arrivals.
Prestianni had been linked with a departure from the Estádio da Luz, but has since become a useful option for José Mourinho.
He is under contract until 2029 and has a release clause of 100 million euros, reflecting Benfica’s investment in the 20-year-old.
River Plate pushed to sign him but did not succeed. The decision to keep him in the squad had Mourinho’s influence, a sign of the coach’s belief in his potential.
This season he has played 27 competitive matches, 16 in Liga Portugal Betclic, six in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 1,205 minutes he has two goals and one assist.
