Preston North End beat Charlton Athletic 2-1 at The Valley, moving up to 13th in the Championship.

In the 18th minute, Joe Rankin-Costello drilled home from the centre of the box to put Charlton ahead.

Lewis Dobbin levelled with a close-range header from Brad Potts' cross (25.).

After the restart, Potts finished low at the far corner on a fast break, set up by Dobbin (65.).

Daniel Iversen preserved the points with late stops. He denied Lyndon Dykes in the first minute of second half stoppage time and saved from Ibrahim Fullah in the second minute.

Seven minutes of added time were indicated.

Charlton registered 17 attempts and seven corners. Preston produced five shots on target and held 55.3% possession.
