Sheffield United host Derby County at Bramall Lane this Saturday for Matchday 13 of the Championship.
The Blades are desperate for a turnaround after a 3-2 defeat at Preston North End left them 22nd in the table. Chris Wilder’s side will be looking to climb out of the relegation zone with a strong home performance.
Derby arrive in better form, having won 1-0 against QPR last time out to move up to 17th. John Eustace’s Rams will be hoping to extend their positive run on the road and continue their climb up the table.
The last meeting between the two ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for Sheffield United, setting the stage for what could be a tight and tense encounter at Bramall Lane.
theo (allthingsblades): After last weeks second half capitulation away to Preston Sheffield United host Derby at Bramall Lane looking to get back to winning ways.
United beat Derby County twice last season with both games finishing one nil to Sheffield United. Chris Wilder will once again have the selection of Tom Davies back in midfield after a small injury which kept him out for a few games. He could be a key player in Saturday’s fixture alongside Callum O’Hare who has easily been the United player of the season so far.
I’m predicting it to be a very close game with a late late winner for the Blades after going behind.
Prediction: 2-1
Cory Hancock (The Rams Review Podcast): Two wins from two have Derby County looking up the table with a some momentum behind them. Wins are always welcome but Derby (and manager John Eustace) desperately needed them.
Some sections of the fan base were starting to question if Eustace was the right man for the job. These two results will without doubt silence the doubters, for now at least. The green shoots the fans expected to see when the season kicked off have finally started to show through. Hopefully the momentum can keep going in a positive direction.
Influential defender Sondre Langås has returned from injury and his performances were worth the wait. Langås, who has missed all season recovering from a knee injury, showed his class in his first two appearances and has lifted the level of performances of the entire club.
On-loan Owen Beck is close to returning to action. The Liverpool loanee has yet to play for the club due to injury. He is still a few weeks away but it is great news that the treatment room in Derby is starting to empty. Scottish international full-back Max Johnston is in doubt with injury, but outside of him and Beck, Derby have almost a full complement to choose from.
Sheffield United have not had a great start to the season but will be a tough side to face, especially at Bramall Lane and with Chris Wilder back in the dugout (again!). With the recent form Derby have showed, expect The Rams to score and to walk away from Bramall Lane with a solid point.
