The City defender was back on home ground as the young Lionesses secured a win in the WU23 European competition.

London City’s Isobel Goodwin got the only goal of the game in the 26th minute when she headed in Mari Ward’s cross from close range.

England dominated with 23 shots to just a single effort from the visitors but they had to settle for a narrow victory.

The clash was the first international fixtures at the Joie Stadium since Euro 2022, when England played three group matches against Iceland, Belgium and Italy.

And it was the first win of the 2025/26 campaign for the under-23 side after being beaten by reigning champions Germany and picking up a 1-1 draw with Portugal.

Elsewhere, Finland and Austria drew 1-1 in a friendly with City defender Laura Wienroither an unused substitute for the away side.
