The Arnault family are nearing their takeover of Ligue 2 side Paris FC. Unveiling the project, Antoine Arnault has now revealed that he is in fact a supporter of cross-city rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
Arnault is set to become the new owner of the Ligue 2 side. Initially, he is set to buy a 55% stake in the club, Red Bull will acquire a 15% share, and the current owner, Pierre Ferracci, will retain a 30% share which he will then relinquish in 2027. A big step was taken last week as the prospective new owners sat down with the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, to discuss the takeover. Today, the project is being unveiled.
Details such as the involvement of Red Bull, set to purchase a minority share, and their head of global soccer, Jurgen Klopp, have been evoked. Arnault has even delved into his own personal allegiances, revealing an affinity for PSG.
“PSG are a club that I have loved since I was 12 years old. I was a season ticket holder for many years. I am invited by my friend Nasser (Al-Khelaifi) and you’ll never hear me say anything negative about PSG,” began Antoine Arnault in a press conference, transcribed by RMC Sport.
He added, “It is a club that I admire. I am not ruling out supporting two clubs in Paris. The day that we are in Ligue 1, I will support PSG, apart from twice a year. What the club has achieved in recent years is extraordinary.”
