Paris Saint-Germain are looking to accelerate a deal ahead of Liverpool. That's according to Fabrizio Romano, anyway.

Liverpool have work to do if they’re to be ready for the start of the season. The Reds are short in several areas right now and with under three weeks to go, it feels unlikely that they’ll get everything done.

It’s not actually very clear who will be staying at the club, let alone arriving. Talk around Cody Gakpo potentially joining Tottenham Hotspur is now growing, while no one has a clue about Curtis Jones’s future.

Then there’s the goalkeeper mess. We imagine it will be Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili battling for the no.1 spot this season but both have been linked with moves away.

Alisson, for one, is now in the final year of his contract and we don’t think it’s likely he re-signs for longer. That naturally opens the door to a potential sale.

That also means Liverpool have to consider replacements and one they’ve been linked with this summer is Parma’s Zion Suzuki. The goalkeeper starred for Japan at the World Cup and generated quite a bit of hype for himself.

Though, it appears it’s Paris Saint-Germain who will get him. Fabrizio Romano is among those reporting about an offer from PSG to Parma of around €33m all-in.

PSG haven’t been happy with their goalkeeping options since selling Gianluigi Donnarumma last summer. Suzuki would be their latest attempt to solve the problem and we imagine that completely ends Liverpool’s interest.

The Reds don’t actually need a new goalkeeper unless Alisson or Mamardashvili depart. While it’s possible one of the two does, we can’t imagine Liverpool replace the outgoing option with someone for €33m.

Not when they’re locked in talks with PSG for Bradley Barcola. This one, then, feels like a write-off.
