Ibrahima Konaté is entering the final year of his Liverpool contract with no extension agreed, fueling speculation about his next move, particularly as PSG monitor the situation.
Foot Mercato reported that several top European clubs have expressed interest, including PSG, Real Madrid, and Barcelona. Last summer, Liverpool opted to retain Konaté rather than entertain any offers.
More recently, Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato indicated that Real Madrid has shifted focus to Dayot Upamecano, reportedly reaching a verbal agreement. PSG, meanwhile, remain interested, and Konaté still has the chance to negotiate a new deal with Liverpool.
The Athletic added Friday that Real Madrid’s long-term interest appears to have ended, seemingly influenced by Konaté’s error-prone performances under Arne Slot.

TEAMtalk’s Dean Jones broke down what went wrong for the player, why a move to the Bernabeu is no longer happening, and how Liverpool benefited from the stalled transfer. He also noted that the club now sees a fresh opportunity to secure a contract extension with Konaté.
“The Konaté news is very interesting as the player has very much had his head turned by the interest from Madrid,” Jones told TEAMtalk.
“I think he was really hoping to end up there, but after recent performances, I’m not surprised that deal is no longer being looked at. Sources in Spain say the idea of moving to Madrid had been winning him over – but this is a club that are not afraid to change their plans.
“And Real Madrid have always had other big names they’ve looked at alongside him. To be honest, those players are playing better than Konaté is right now.”
