On December 19, PSG announced that Safonov picked up a fractured left hand during the match against Flamengo and is expected to miss three to four weeks.

Kang-In Lee also went down in that game, sustaining a muscle injury in his left thigh that will keep the midfielder sidelined for several weeks.

Meanwhile, Bradley Barcola is dealing with muscle fatigue and will continue receiving treatment.

PSG will face Olympique de Marseille on January 8, Sporting Lisbon on January 20, and Newcastle United on January 28. It will be interesting to see whether Lee and Safonov can return to the squad when these two Champions League games take place at the end of next month.
