PSG have made their mind up over their first choice goalkeeper for next season, according to Parisian sources reporting on the matter.

PSG won the Champions League in 2025 after destroying Inter Milan in the final and playing some incredibly football along the way to that game.

There was no need to change too much, and really the only significant switch in the first team was the sale of Gigi Donnarumma to Man City. He was replaced by up and coming young star Lucas Chevalier from Lille.

We all know how it worked out – or didn’t. Chevalier struggled in the early part of the season, and things eventually got so bad that he was replaced by second choice Matvey Safonov.

Safonov was not always entirely convincing – but he was far more solid than Chevalier, and helped his team win the Champions League again last month.

So what next? According to sources in France, Safonov will be shown faith, and PSG will stick with him as first choice for next season. Chevalier will be sold if a buyer can be found.

Some fans would certainly like to see the team try to upgrade once again – but Safonov has earned his place.

The fixture list for Ligue 1 next season has been released, and PSG get a relatively tough opening week fixture to look forward to.

PSG have been able to sell their academy defender Noham Kamara to Lyon after the Rhone based team picked up the option to make his move permanent.
