Ibrahim Mbaye's post-AFCON struggles with PSG

Since his return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which he played with Senegal, Ibrahim Mbaye has hardly featured for Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite assurances from Luis Enrique that he would get more playing time, the Senegalese winger is facing a much harsher reality. He hasn't played a single minute in PSG's last three matches.
After starting against Auxerre (0-1, 61 minutes) and Strasbourg (1-2, 45 minutes), as well as getting three minutes off the bench against Newcastle (1-1) in the Champions League, the 18-year-old has since watched from the sidelines as PSG claimed victory at Monaco in the Champions League (2-3) and played out their last two Ligue 1 games against OM (5-0) and Rennes (3-1 defeat).
The club has cited a lack of consistency as one of the reasons for his current situation, alongside his struggle to readjust to daily life in Paris after spending a month with the Lions of Teranga in Morocco.
It must be said, too, that PSG's squad depth isn’t doing the African champion any favors, with fierce competition from quality players in his position such as Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Senegalese prodigy has made 23 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He is still regarded as a key prospect for the Parisian club’s future.
