Paris Saint-Germain are planning to submit an offer for Dayot Upamecano if he decides against extending his contract with Bayern Munich (h/t RMC Sport).

A drawn-out contract saga involving the French defender at Bayern is unfolding, fuelling speculation over his future.

Upamecano’s current deal expires at the end of this season, and the Bavarians are working around the clock to extend his stay.

However, there hasn’t been any significant development in the renewal talks, with Upamecano holding out on Bayern’s offer.

The Bundesliga champions have tabled a lucrative five-year deal with an increased salary until 2031, which will make him one of the club’s top earners. However, the Frenchman’s camp are demanding a substantial signing bonus worth around €20 million. It is proving to be a sticking point in the negotiations.

Nevertheless, Bayern are not giving up on the 27-year-old and are confident they can eventually secure his long-term future.

Upamecano’s situation has caught the attention of top clubs such as Liverpool, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan.

He has also recently reacted to a potential move to PSG, hailing Les Parisiens as one of the biggest clubs.

The French giants are looking to recruit top-class players like Upamecano to sustain the dominance they established last season after winning the continental treble.

Having splurged €63 million for Ukrainian centre-back Illia Zabarnyi earlier in the summer, PSG can bolster their defence with Upamecano on a bossman transfer.

The French international is currently performing at the peak of his powers, playing a central role in Bayern’s stellar winning streak this season.

He also should have impressed PSG with his solid display in Bayern’s recent 2-1 win against the French giants in the Champions League.
