Atalanta president Antonio Percassi has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain made an unsuccessful move for Ademola Lookman during last summer’s transfer window.
Speaking at a press conference transcribed by L’Équipe, Percassi explained that PSG’s interest came in the wake of Lookman’s Europa League final hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen. “The pact with Lookman was made a year ago, when we refused a €20m offer from PSG,” said the Italian.
According to Percassi, Atalanta promised the 27-year-old Nigeria international that he could leave in 2025 for a “very high-level club” – provided it was not in Serie A. However, Lookman’s current preferred destination appears to be Inter Milan, with whom he has reportedly reached an agreement.
That move, however, is far from certain. Percassi underlined that Atalanta still control the forward’s future, confirming the club turned down Inter’s latest offer – worth €45m including bonuses – over the weekend.
Lookman has publicly expressed his desire to leave Bergamo this summer, but with PSG’s interest now historic and Inter’s bids rejected, his next destination remains unclear.GFFN | George Boxall
