Real Madrid have held the Argentine prodigy Franco Mastantuono in high regard for a long time now and he has been a part of their transfer strategy for over a year.

The youngster’s allure, however, is not limited to the Spanish capital and it is not surprising that he has offers on his table from across the globe including multiple European heavyweights.

While Los Blancos have indeed been actively working on bringing the player in, the plan appeared to be to wait until the final days of the summer transfer window before assessing the economic situation and taking a call.

Now, however, Real Madrid must change their strategy as Fabrizio Romano reveals that a serious competitor is growing closer to the star.

PSG moving fast

As relayed by the Italian journalist, PSG are now working very hard to sign Mastantuono and have already begun talks and negotiations with his entourage.

There is still interest in the player from Real Madrid and England, but PSG are pushing very hard to complete the deal at the earliest and secure the youngster’s signing.

The 17-year-old is already a regular starter for River Plate in Argentina and is seen to be one of the world’s best up-and-coming midfield talents. His release clause stands at $45 million and PSG are willing to trigger that fee immediately.

The youngster is reportedly keen on playing the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup with River Plate and may thus not actually make his move to Europe until the end of the year.

Yet, Real Madrid must now hurry and look to restart negotiations if they are to salvage his signing. After all, PSG plan to sign the player and leave him on loan in Argentina for next season.
