Paris Saint-Germain pushed to sign Victor Osimhen (26) last summer, however, they will not do so again at the end of the season, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
As per Tavolieri, PSG saw a combined bid of €200m for Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia last summer. The latter did join Les Parisiens in January for a fee thought to be around €70m. However, there was a lack of unanimity internally regarding the Nigerian striker. It was a deal pushed more by sporting director Luís Campos than Luis Enrique, who was not keen on signing a traditional No.9. Ousmane Dembélé has been used in the role this season and to great effect.
With Campos’ future uncertain (his contract expires at the end of the season), Luis Enrique now has more of a say in the sporting decisions at PSG and as a result, the Ligue 1 side will not return to try and sign Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.
However, the centre-forward could still be on the move. He has a release clause valued at €75m and Manchester United, in the market for a No.9, could make a move, according to Tavolieri. The Premier League side’s interest in Osimhen dates back many years.
