Liverpool are eyeing a move for Monaco playmaker Maghnes Akliouche. He is one of the players the Reds are eyeing to bolster their attack.
However, Liverpool face the risk of missing out on the French star. Per L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are about to make a fourth bid for the Monaco man.
Liverpool could use a player of Akliouche’s ilk after club legend Mohamed Salah moved on. Last season, the 24-year-old recorded six goals and six assists in 21 Ligue 1 appearances.
The Liverpool target delivered a goal and three assists (seven big chances created) in 10 UEFA Champions League appearances.
He bagged seven goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions the season before.
Akliouche is on the market as his club needs to generate €150 million, and he is one of their most valuable assets.
They reportedly want around €70 million to let him go, and the European champions are inching closer, meaning Liverpool have to move rapidly to land him.
Liverpool cannot afford to hesitate if they genuinely view Akliouche as a key part of Andoni Iraola’s long-term project.
He has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s most exciting operators thanks to his creativity, close control and ability to produce in the biggest games.
At around €70 million, he also represents a relatively attainable signing in a market where elite attacking talent often commands far higher fees.
However, with PSG preparing another push, the Reds risk watching another priority target slip away.
If Liverpool believe Akliouche has the quality to thrive at Anfield, they must act decisively before the European champions win the race.
It will also be interesting to see whether this move for Akliouche plays out as the Reds are also after Bradley Barcola.
