PSG are pursuing a move for FC Barcelona striker Ferran Torres (26), L’Equipe understands, as Sky Sports goes as far as saying that the former Manchester City player has reached an agreement in principle with the back-to-back Champions League winners. PSG have moved apace with their summer transfer dealings, particularly for attacking players.
Gonçalo Ramos has been sold to AC Milan and Lee Kang-in is expected to join Atlético de Madrid. Randal Kolo Muani has also been shown the exit door. To compensate for those departures, Les Parisiens have secured personal agreements with Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche and Leipzig’s Yan Diomandé, although none of these players have been signed yet.
As they aim to be ready for any eventuality, PSG explore the possibility of signing Torres. The Barcelona man is reportedly highly regarded by former Barça head coach Luis Enrique and PSG’s sporting management. Because Torres has entered the final months of his contract with Los Blaugranes, Barcelona would be wise to entertain a deal.
L’Equipe reports that any move for Torres hinges on the outgoing of a senior player up front, presumably Bradley Barcola. The France international has been playing a bit-part role in PSG’s conquests of the Champions League, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia instrumental on the left wing.
Barcola’s intentions remain unclear, and negotiations for a contract renewal are put on hold as long as he’s involved with France’s World Cup run. Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are among the clubs holding an interest for the former Lyon Academy graduate, whose price-tag is set at a whopping €150m transfer fee.
