Xabi Alonso is approaching the midpoint of his first season in charge at Real Madrid, and the early stretch has offered a clearer picture of what is working and what still needs reinforcement. Midfield has emerged as a key talking point, with the club reportedly keeping close tabs on PSG standout Vitinha.

Any attempt to land the Portuguese midfielder would come with obvious challenges. PSG relied heavily on Vitinha alongside Fabián Ruiz and João Neves during a dominant 2024–25 campaign that delivered Ligue 1, the UEFA Champions League, and the Coupe de France.

Still, Madrid’s spending power could complicate matters. A serious offer might prompt PSG to listen, opening the door to discussions that could extend to Vitinha himself and whether a move away from París is worth considering.

According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid have identified Vitinha as a potential target if Vinicius Jr. departs during the summer window. The club would aim to free up significant salary space from such an exit and redirect those funds toward a move for the PSG midfielder.

Despite being tied to PSG until 2029, Vitinha wouldn’t rule out a future move to Spain during a recent interview with O Jogo.

“La Liga is fantastic and suits my style of play better,” Vitinha said (h/t Le10Sport). “I would like to play there one day. But it’s difficult to set goals. You have to take things step by step.”

“I’ve already played in the Premier League, but at Wolverhampton I didn’t get as much playing time as I would have liked, especially during the Covid period, which prevented me from fully enjoying the atmosphere in the stadiums.”
