PSG Star Tipped to Mirror Eduardo Camavinga’s Role at Real Madrid

One question surrounding PSG this summer is whether or not they’ll push for a right-back to provide depth behind Achraf Hakimi. No player behind the Moroccan will be leaving midway through the season to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Luis Enrique and his team must find a replacement for Hakimi whenever he’s gone, suspended, or injured. Nonetheless, it doesn’t appear that PSG will dip into the transfer market to grab Hakimi’s backup.

Furthermore, the capital club will look to move a player to right back and have him play that role rather than the midfield.

Warren Zaïre-Emery moving to a different position at PSG?

RMC Sport’s Walid Acherchour stated that Warren Zaïre-Emery will be following the similar path that Eduardo Camavinga has done at Real Madrid, where they push a midfielder to fill the right back role.

“Zaïre-Emery has become Hakimi’s backup, and in that role, he is much better than in midfield,” Acherchour said on After Foot RMC (h/t Le10Sport). “He’s going to have the Camavinga syndrome at Real Madrid. You’ll realize that when he comes in as a second wave at the fullback position, in a midfield-like way, he is more dangerous than when he is static in the midfield trio.”

Only time will tell whether PSG are making the right move by moving Zaïre-Emery to the backline rather than pursuing a natural right back.
