According to L'Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain privately plan to keep their squad intact for the run-in, despite public comments from Luis Enrique and Nasser al-Khelaïfi that have left the January window ajar.
After the 0-0 draw in Bilbao in the Champions League, Luis Enrique said the club were open to arrivals but stressed that January deals are difficult, even joking about only considering very interesting, low-cost options.
On Wednesday in Doha, and for the first time this season, al-Khelaïfi addressed the topic after the Intercontinental Cup win, asking for time and keeping options open.
Behind the scenes, the message is different, with no desire to be active in January and a focus on recovering injured players so they are all fit for the season’s major dates. Options are scarce at this stage of the year. The World Cup from June and a Champions League first phase that runs until 28 January, three days before the deadline, add complexity.
Mohamed Salah’s situation at Liverpool has been noted, yet Paris do not intend to move for the Egypt forward this winter. His salary is seen as prohibitive, and finances remain a factor.
Departures are not sought, though Paris would listen in the event of a super proposal for one of their players. Beraldo still wants minutes but is not for sale, and Gonçalo Ramos, used sparingly, remains the only penalty-box striker. Noham Kamara could leave on loan, while Lee Kang-in appears more content with his role.
Internally, positions under consideration are a centre-back and a right winger.
