Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24) is expected to be sidelined for the next two weeks, according to L’Équipe.

After injuring his right ankle following a tackle by Sweden international Anthony Elanga (23) during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Newcastle United, Kvaratskhelia was forced to leave the pitch in the 22nd minute; he was replaced by Désiré Doué (20). Further examinations carried out on Thursday morning revealed a simple sprain, ruling out the possibility of a broken ankle.

His unavailability is estimated at two weeks. It means that he will miss Sunday’s clash with RC Strasbourg Alsace and perhaps Le Classique against Olympique de Marseille on 8th February. His availability for the visit of Stade Rennais the following weekend and for the UEFA Champions League play-off first leg will depend on his injury recovery.

A key member of Luis Enrique’s squad, Kvaratskhelia has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists.
