Luís Campos’ contract at Paris Saint-Germain is running down, without any signs of a breakthrough in discussions over a renewal.
Whilst PSG are yet to submit an official extension offer to Campos, the Ligue 1 side do want to retain the Portuguese sporting director beyond the end of his current deal, which expires in the summer. However, other entities have smelt a scent of opportunity and are anticipating the event of Campos becoming available.
Campos himself is also keen to remain at the Parc des Princes, however, he is not opposed to a departure in the event that a reasonable offer is not received, especially since he already has a tangible and lucrative offer at his disposal, as revealed by Le Parisien.
The Portuguese sporting director has received a bumper 10-year deal from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, worth €200m. His job with the Federation, should he accept, would be to develop the national team, with a clearly stated objective for Saudi Arabia to reach the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup, which they will host in 2034.
This contract was negotiated in Geneva last week. Campos, who has not yet made a definitive call on his future, has not signed the contract but has until 31st December 2025 to do so. There is also contact from Arsenal and Chelsea, both of whom have reached out to Campos’ entourage. As part of contingency planning, PSG have made contact with former Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta.
