PSG picked up a 2-0 win over RC Lens on Sunday to remain top of Ligue 1, but the result came at a price as injuries continue to stretch the squad early in the 2025-26 campaign.

The timing couldn’t be worse, with the UEFA Champions League kicking off this week. PSG have been thrown into a demanding group, opening against Bayern Munich and Barcelona in what promises to be a tough start. Tottenham Hotspur are also in the mix, setting up a quick rematch of their heated UEFA Super Cup clash from August.

Moreover, the schedule only gets tougher from there. Newcastle United and Athletic Bilbao are among the other opponents, while Bayer Leverkusen, Atalanta, and Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon round out the Parisians’ league phase.

On Sunday, PSG suffered a blow with injuries to Lucas Beraldo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Kang-In Lee. After the match against Lens, manager Luis Enrique spoke about the string of injuries PSG are enduring to start the 2025-26 season.

“I don’t know, we have to wait for the results from the medical staff, I don’t have the information at the moment,” Enrique said. “A bit of a difficult moment for us. We have to wait, we need to face them as a collective. I’m confident we can overcome them.”

PSG will face Atalanta on September 17, but all eyes are on the October 1 matchup against Barcelona. The severity of these injuries is unknown yet, but the capital club is already missing Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué.

However, PSG should have a healthy Doué for the Barcelona clash. Still, one player is on the verge of returning, and three more going down isn’t ideal.
