QPR are eyeing a defender previously looked at by Blackburn Rovers & Barnsley in 2026, with the 19-year-old from further down the pyramid...
Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers, and Barnsley have all taken a look at a 19-year-old defender lower down the English pyramid of late, with the trio looking to strengthen in the summer transfer window.
QPR are perhaps the most intriguing of these three clubs heading into the summer. The R's are preparing for a 12th consecutive Championship campaign, and while promotion has remained elusive throughout that time, there is a growing sense that stability has finally been established with a young core of players.
The challenge now is turning that stability into more and looking up the table, with an exciting young attack but maybe the need for more steel in defence. QPR need to strengthen intelligently, retain their best performers, and find a way of bridging the gap to the play-off contenders in what looks set to be another fiercely competitive Championship season.
After just avoiding relegation, Blackburn Rovers find themselves in a similar position. Another season in the Championship means another opportunity to push towards the top six, but patience will not last forever at a club of Blackburn's stature. With 2026/27 marking their ninth consecutive season in the second tier.

That duo are in the Championship but Barnsley perhaps have the pressure as arguably greatest of all. The Tykes remain in League One after another disappointing campaign and are now entering 2026/27 needing an emphatic response. Following Conor Hourihane's departure and another season outside the promotion picture, the club must show they can compete with the best the league has to offer.
How they have operated is often by signing younger players from the divisions below the EFL's pyramid or castoffs from teams higher up the league system than them, including former Hartlepool loanee Reyes Cleary after he left West Bromwich Albion when his contract expired.
It appears as though QPR could be eyeing a move for a player more down that route, with journalist Pete O'Rourke revealing Isthmian League North Division side Brightlingsea Regent have a right-back called Idreess Namisi. He states that he has been brought in on trial at Loftus Road.
He adds that the 19-year-old has caught the eye of clubs higher up the pyramid. Also, Namisi has already spent time on trial with Blackburn, Barnsley, and Kidderminster Harriers this year and now QPR are looking at him in the summer.

For clubs such as QPR, Blackburn, and Barnsley, identifying young talent in the lower leagues and selling at a profit has to remain a key part of the long-term strategy. Competing financially with parachute-payment clubs or teams backed by significantly larger budgets is often unrealistic.
It means that smart recruitment becomes essential in the short-term, medium-term, and long-term while they remain outside of the top flight. By scouting League One, League Two and non-league football effectively, clubs can acquire promising players before their value skyrockets.
The benefits are twofold. Firstly, those players can help drive success on the pitch, whether that be a promotion push or a play-off challenge. Secondly, if they continue to develop, substantial transfer fees can be reinvested into the squad.
In the increasingly competitive EFL landscape, creating valuable assets is one of the most sustainable ways for clubs to grow while remaining financially healthy. This could be a nothing trial exercise for QPR or could be them landing a gem after others turned their noses up at him.
