QPR are reportedly keen to sign goalkeeper Pierce Charles on loan from Manchester City once he completes his move from Sheffield Wednesday.
It is set to be an important summer for Queens Park Rangers after another frustrating season in the Championship.
After a strong start to life under Julian Stephan, QPR sat as high as seventh in the table in late December, but a disappointing second half of the season saw them finish the campaign in 15th place.
It has been a quiet transfer window for the R's so far, but they did complete their first signing of the summer last month as defender Boy Kemper joined on a free transfer from Dutch side NAC Breda.
While there has been a lack of incomings, there have been a number of high-profile exits from Loftus Road, with the likes of Paul Nardi, Ben Hamer, Steve Cook and Isaac Hayden departing at the end of their contracts, while Sam Field made a permanent move to Norwich City in a deal that could eventually reach £3 million after spending time on loan at Carrow Road last season.
With just over a month to go until their Championship opener at Portsmouth, the Hoops will be looking to step up their recruitment drive, and it seems they are targeting a deal involving Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday.

QPR are short on numbers in the goalkeeping department after the departures of Nardi and Hamer, and their options could soon be depleted further as Joe Walsh is reportedly set to join League One side Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan, while Murphy Cooper is said to be deciding between a move to Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth Argyle and MK Dons.
If, as expected, Walsh and Cooper both leave Loftus Road this summer, the R's would likely need to bring in at least two new goalkeepers, and it appears they have set their sights on a potential new number one for the upcoming season.
According to the Daily Mail's Simon Jones, QPR are keen to sign Pierce Charles on loan once he completes his imminent move to Manchester City from Sheffield Wednesday.
Charles kept two clean sheets in 21 appearances for the Owls last season, but while he was unable to prevent his side's relegation from the Championship, he still managed to catch the eye with some impressive performances in difficult circumstances.
After spending time in the club's academy earlier in his career, Charles is set to re-join former club Manchester City for an initial fee of £3 million, but the deal could eventually be worth as much as £10 million if all add-ons are met.
City are said to be weighing up whether to keep Charles at the Etihad Stadium or loan him out, but if new head coach Enzo Maresca gives the green light to his exit, it seems that QPR will be at the front of the queue to take him on a temporary basis.

It remains to be seen whether Charles will be part of City's first team squad or loaned out next season, and much could depend on the future of James Trafford, who has once again been linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent weeks.
While Maresca may be keen to keep Charles as back-up to Gianluigi Donnarumma, sitting on the bench at the Etihad Stadium would not be beneficial for his career, so a loan back to the Championship would be a sensible option.
With Nardi and Hamer having already departed and Walsh and Cooper set to follow them out of the exit door, Charles would almost certainly be guaranteed to start every week at QPR, and Stephan's strong track record of developing young players could make him the perfect manager for the Northern Ireland international to work under.
