Quentin Westberg, the experienced French goalkeeper renowned for his time at Toronto FC, has officially retired from professional football at the age of 38. Starting his professional journey in France, Westberg played for eight clubs, showcasing his talents both in Europe and North America. His career is highlighted by a significant three-year spell with Toronto FC, where he became a fan favorite and played a crucial role in the club's success.
Westberg joined Toronto FC in 2019 from French club AJ Auxerre. In his debut season, he made 32 appearances, keeping four clean sheets while adapting to the competitive nature of MLS. Over his three years with the club, he amassed 79 appearances, recording 11 clean sheets and making crucial saves.
His crowning moment came during the 2020 Canadian Championship final, which was postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Facing Forge FC, Westberg's heroics in the penalty shootout, including a decisive save, secured the title for Toronto FC. This championship victory remains the only silverware of his illustrious career and solidified his legacy within the club.
