Adrien Rabiot is confident that Milan can win the Scudetto this season and is delighted to work with Massimiliano Allegri again: ‘I don’t know how he does it, but he even predicts the future.’

Rabiot spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday, days after the Rossoneri’s 1-0 win over Inter in the derby della Madonnina.

Fans dream of winning the Scudetto, but can Milan actually lift the title at the end of the season? Rabiot certainly feels so.

“There is everything to make it happen. A club like Milan, a good group in the dressing room and an important coaching staff,” he said.

“Now we have to work week after week, give our best and make sacrifices. To win, you always need to give something extra and have the mentality that the coach instilled in us.”

Rabiot already worked under Allegri at Juventus, and reuniting with the Italian tactician was one of the reasons why he moved to San Siro from Marseille last summer.

“He’s a winner, and I like his personality,” said the French midfielder.

“The way he coaches, his passion for football and his ambition. He always gives everything, and I see myself in his way of thinking. Off the pitch, he’s very positive. He jokes around and helps us stay calm.

“Milan approached me last year as well, when I was a free agent, and we had talked,” Rabiot continued.

“I’d say I arrived at the right time. The club wanted me in July too, when I was at Marseille, but it was difficult for me to leave. After that incident [clash with Jonathan Rowe], other Italian clubs contacted me, but I knew what I wanted. Allegri told me: ‘Let’s see what happens,’ and something really did happen. I don’t know how he does it, but he even predicts the future.”

Rabiot had missed five matches before returning to action in the derby last weekend, and Allegri kept talking to him even when he was on the sidelines.

“He asked me when I would be back three or four times in a day, but in truth, he only wanted me to play when I was ready because the injury was serious,” Rabiot revealed.

“Having a coach who talks to you often, even when unavailable, helps you to stay focused on the goal. Allegri is exceptional in this.”
