Sunday's derby de la Madonnina between AC Milan and Inter, kick-off 20:45, brings together the most French players in Europe. Seven are set to feature, including four France regulars, with Inter’s Ange-Yoan Bonny and Andy Diouf involved. Victory would move Inter 13 points clear of second-placed Milan.
Mike Maignan’s fifth season at Milan has been impressive, and he signed a five-year extension at the end of January. Afterwards the captain made errors in a 1-1 draw with Como and a 0-1 loss to Parma four days later. His 81 percent save rate is the highest in Serie A.
Adrien Rabiot, 30, hit nine goals and four assists for OM last season. At Milan he now plays a more classic left-sided role, with four goals and four assists in 19. “It is important to bring together every aspect of the game, and it is something I think I do very well. The more complete I am, the stronger I feel,” he said, speaking to Rivista Undici.
Youssouf Fofana has kept an important role, often ahead of Samuele Ricci. The 27-year-old provides balance but struggles in the final third, with one goal in 22 Serie A matches. Allegri wants him to be more prolific.
At Inter, Marcus Thuram, 28, is under scrutiny, with questions over his World Cup chances. He has three goals in 2026 after nine between August and December 2025, and with Lautaro Martinez injured he has been asked to lead the line, yet Pio Esposito and Bonny have outshone him.
