According to Diario Do Peixe, Racing have rejected an official Santos offer for centre-back Marco Di Cesare that proposed a US$ 750,000 loan and a clause that would oblige Santos to buy 75% of his rights for US$ 5 million if he starts 10 matches.

Racing are understood to prefer an immediate permanent sale. Even so, the player’s stance could influence talks, with Di Cesare having made clear internally that he wants the move and asking the club to accept so he can join Santos.

Coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda and his staff evaluated the defender and approved his profile, after which the proposal was formalised as part of plans to strengthen the defence.

Santos are approaching negotiations cautiously, weighing financial and sporting factors. The club are working to complete up to three signings by 3 March, a centre-back and two midfielders, with parallel discussions ongoing.

Di Cesare, 24, came through Argentinos Juniors from 2018 and debuted professionally in 2020, making 48 appearances, including in the 2023 Copa Libertadores, before moving to Racing.

In Avellaneda he won the 2024 Copa Sudamericana and was named in the team of the tournament, then lifted the Recopa Sudamericana in early 2025. By the start of 2026 he had made more than 47 appearances for Racing, and he has featured for Argentina’s youth sides, starting at the Under-23 Pre-Olympic tournament and being part of the squad at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
