Castellón city hall staged the launch of the Supercopa de España Femenina, which runs from Tuesday 20 to Saturday 24. Real Madrid face Atlético de Madrid at 19.15 on Tuesday, with Barcelona meeting Athletic Club at 19.00 on Wednesday. The final is Saturday at 19.00.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the deal followed the under-21s’ October game at SkyFi Castalia.
Plaza Mayor hosts a Fan Zone from Tuesday to Friday, 11:00-14:00 and 16:30-19:00, and on Saturday from 11:00-15:00. On final day, Plaza Teodoro Izquierdo will have a children’s attraction from 15:00-19:00.
Pérez Llorca lauded Castellón’s sporting culture and the region’s credentials, citing women’s football tradition and the roles of Valencia and Villarreal. He noted four men’s clubs in Primera and said CD Castellón are surging for promotion, predicting victory over Leganés.
He thanked Rafael Louzán for efforts to secure a World Cup venue in the Comunitat Valenciana, promising the Generalitat’s full support. He added that there are great cities like Castellón, the capital is Valencia, and neighbours in Castellón or Alicante would welcome hosting.
Mayor Begoña Carrasco said the city will take the Supercopa beyond the pitch with meeting points across squares and streets. She also praised CD Castellón’s promotion push as the product of sustained work.
Louzán applauded CD Castellón and wished them luck against Leganés in their bid to go top, calling the event’s arrival great news. He underlined the strength of Spanish women’s football, noting that six of the 11 players in The Best XI are Spanish.
