Raheem Sterling has left Chelsea after his contract was terminated, making the winger a free agent this month. The 31-year-old is weighing options for the next step of his career.

As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Sterling trained away from the first team under Enzo Maresca’s bomb squad and new head coach Liam Rosenior did not alter that. He joined for £47.5 million in 2022 on big wages that complicated exits, but he can now sign immediately.

Sterling prefers to remain in London, where his family are settled, a factor behind last season’s loan to Arsenal. BBC Sport reports he is open to moving outside the capital.

West Ham were linked and had a loan bid rejected at the start of this month, the Standard reports, with a permanent deal or obligation to buy preferred. Adama Traoré’s arrival may reduce their need. Crystal Palace have also been mentioned, while Italian champions Napoli have been touted, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Fulham looks the clearest fit, keeping him in west London. The Standard says Sterling is keen, and previous windows brought interest from the Cottagers.

Fulham have revived careers for Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe and Willian, while Harry Wilson has flourished and a European push remains possible. Wilson’s future beyond this season is uncertain, which may open a slot. Whether Fulham move is unclear, and Sterling would likely need a significant pay cut from £325,000 per week.
