If a recent report from The Herald is believed to be true, Rangers are keeping close tabs on Kieron Bowie and have asked his entourage to keep them in the loop on any transfer developments circling the Hibernian centre-forward. But they are not alone in the hunt, with Old Firm rivals Celtic as well as several English Championship outfits keen on having him in their ranks.

The 23-year-old Scotland international progressed through the academy setup of Glenrothes Strollers, Fife Elite FA and Raith Rovers before featuring for the latter’s first team in the Scottish League One. He then plied his trade south of the border when Fulham snapped him up on a Bosman, but the Cottagers loaned him out to Northampton Town for regular football.

Hibs came calling in the summer of 2024, as they secured his services for €700k. Despite missing months of action due to a hamstring injury, Bowie netted six times in 18 league appearances during the 2024-25 season. He has scored 8 goals and laid on 3 more in 27 outings so far this season while being lined up alongside Martin Boyle high up the pitch in David Gray’s 5-3-2 formation.

Why Bowie Must Decide Whether To Join Them In January

Meanwhile, the Scotsman is in contention for Steve Clarke’s FIFA World Cup squad, and the Edinburgh heavyweights are heavily reliant on his poaching traits in their battle for a European berth. Gray must be determined to keep hold of his prized asset for the remainder of the season, and Bowie, too, should assess all situations before making a winter move to Ibrox. His gametime might be reduced, considering the presence of Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski up top, but the Gers must not give up the chase, as they aim for a shake-up with several names being transfer-listed, including Danilo.

How Bowie Would Secure A First-team Status At Rangers

The Brazilian came from Feyenoord with high hopes, but has undergone a stop-start stint due to persistent injury woes. He has slipped further down the pecking order following Chermiti and Miovski’s arrival, whereas Bowie, given his promises and potential, would not only be an upgrade over Danilo but also a likely starter for his sharpness upfront.

Chermiti has overcome an early nightmare, having netted twice against their bitter rivals Celtic at Parkhead. Miovski has failed to replicate his form from Aberdeen days, and the pair, overall, have not done enough to emulate Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers’ flair and productivity in the attacking third. Although a winter swoop could prove difficult, Rangers must splash the cash and meet Hibs’ valuation of £6.5m for their star striker.
