Rangers have submitted a new bid for Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi, offering almost €3.6 million guaranteed and a sell-on clause, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. Rangers manager Danny Rohl wants a new striker at the Ibrox club before the deadline next Monday and is hoping a deal for Naderi can be struck. The German striker is willing to sign for the Light Blues now and spend the remainder of the season with Rostock before moving to Rangers in the summer.
However, the Bears have a plan B should a move for Naderi fall through, with Leeds United striker Joel Piroe on their radar. Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe is also the vice chair of Rangers, which could make a deal work out provided the Elland Road club get a replacement. Rostock have played hardball over Naderi so far, rejecting every bid for the 22-year-old. They are currently fourth in the 3. Liga table after 21 games, two points off the league leaders, and losing the Rangers target could deal a blow on their chances of promotion to the 2. Bundesliga.
Naderi has eight league goals and five assists so far in 17 appearances, and holding on to him is crucial to them. Suitors will need to offer a very juicy offer to tempt the German third division club into parting with one of their most important players, and it remains to be seen whether the Light Blues have plans to do so after their latest bid. They are four points behind Scottish Premiership league leaders Hearts after 23 games and will fancy their chances of winning the title this term.
Celtic are also in the title race, with only two points between them and Rangers, and Rohl could do with quality additions in the coming days to boost his side’s chances.
