Both just 19, Assan Ouédraogo and Yan Diomandé have impressed heavily for RB Leipzig this season.
The duo's performances have sparked links to some of Europe’s top clubs, raising the question of whether Leipzig can hold onto them beyond next summer.
When asked about this, RB Leipzig's chairman of the supervisory board, Oliver Mintzlaff, told Sport Bild:
“We want to ensure that we don’t just develop players for one year, but that we can also keep top talents for longer. We still see ourselves as a top Bundesliga club. And for young players like Ouédraogo or Diomandé, it would be good to take the next steps with us and consistently perform at a high level,” he said, but added:
“However, it will always be the case, that we have to let some players go from time to time. We still need to generate transfer fees and have players in the squad who are of interest to absolute top clubs.”
When asked if there is a price that would force the club to sell one of their young stars, Mintzlaff responded:
“Basically, in football, you should never rule anything out. If there’s an offer far above market value, and we’re convinced it’s a one-time opportunity for a significant income, then you have to look each other in the eyes, discuss it and keep a cool head.”
