RB Leipzig set to acquire young Serbian talent Andrija Maksimović | OneFootball

Kicker reports that Red Star Belgrade’s Andrija Maksimović is set to transfer to RB Leipzig. The 18-year-old will move to the Bundesliga outfit on a €14m transfer. Makisimovic – an attack-minded midfielder who can also play on the right flank – has already been capped eight times for Serbia despite being only 18 years of age. He counts as one of the most promising young Balkan talents.

After the official confirmation of Johan Bakayoko’s transfer to RB comes, Maksimović will serve as Leipzig’s fifth major summer outlay. The German Red Bulls, counting both transfers, will have invested approximately €72m in new players this summer. The Saxon club which missed out on Europe for the first time since attaining Bundesliga promotion remains serious about rebuilding.

Kicker does note that the final details of Maksimović’s transfer have not yet been finalized. Moreover, a medical has not been scheduled. It may thus be the case that it takes a few days for official confirmation to come. Maksimović will receive a chance to serve alongside his Serbian national team colleague Kosta Nedeljkovic at his new club.
