RC Lens confirmed on Tuesday morning that German coach Dino Toppmöller is their new head coach on a contract to 2028.
The 45-year-old succeeds Pierre Sage, who has joined Crystal Palace. General manager Benjamin Parrot said Toppmöller fits the club’s project with his playing ideas and his record of improving young players.

Lens are coming off a remarkable campaign, finishing second in Ligue 1 and winning the Coupe de France on 22 May with a 3-1 win over Nice.
A disciple of Julian Nagelsmann, Toppmöller assisted him across 134 matches at RB Leipzig then Bayern Munich, and he favours a 3-4-3.
He will lead the Sang et Or in the Champions League for a second consecutive season, after taking part with Frankfurt in 2025-2026.
