Following Saturday's abysmal 3-0 loss away to Burton Albion, Bolton Wanderers fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure at the team, and in particular, head coach Steven Schumacher.
Bolton have entered their fifth consecutive year in League One, and have consistently threatened for promotion back to the Championship in each of those years, having finished in the top half in each of those seasons, with two play-off place finishes.
Frustration from Trotters fans has been understandable, given that they were a Premier League team for all the 2000s, they have not seen their team play top-flight football in over 13 years, and have not spent more than one season in the Championship in over six years.
Bolton have begun this season in difficult fashion; a 2-0 away loss in the opening match against Stockport County was followed by a 2-0 home win over Plymouth Argyle, and then four consecutive 1-1 draws in the league.
The Trotters currently sit ninth in the League One table on 17 points, with four wins, five draws and two defeats, leaving them level with Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers.
Bolton fans have started to fear the worst once again, and have voiced their frustration with results on social media, with a lot of criticism being directed at manager Schumacher, with calls for him to be sacked amongst those.
Speaking to Football League World, Bolton fan pundit Liam has shared his opinion on whether he believes that calls for Schumacher to be sacked at this stage are justified, given the Trotters' inconsistent run of form.
Liam said: "I don't really know where to start with the idea of sacking Steven Schumacher.
"There are elements of this team that still need to be addressed. I think the back four is still struggling, and I think bringing in three signings and stepping up players from the academy at full-back has been problematic, but you can't address everything in one or two windows.
"I think the team overall is in better shape, but we are consistently leaking goals. I think the goalkeeper situation is a bit of a concern, as well.
"So there are issues, but in terms of calls for Steven Schumacher to be sacked, I mean, I can't really take that seriously, to be honest.
"I think there are a few reactionary people after the defeat. I'm not in a position to take that call too seriously.
"There should be pressure, he's the manager of Bolton Wanderers in League One, there should always be pressure in that.
"Obviously, getting to mid-October and not winning an away game, considering when we've played some of the teams that will be fighting to stay in the division away from home, there is a concern there, of course there is.
"But, I think the idea that you sack him at this stage is ludicrous."
Schumacher must quickly find a way to string together a positive run of performances and results if he wants Bolton fans to get off his back and save his job.
The English coach, who earned promotion from League One with Plymouth Argyle with a triple-digit point tally just a few years ago, has yet to string back-to-back wins together after 12 league games.
Whilst goalscoring hasn't necessarily been a problem so far, having scored 16 times, the 14 goals conceded are much more than they would have liked to have let in, and a stark contrast to Stevenage's eight.
Schumacher knows what it takes to get a team out of this division, and Bolton fans will be hoping that he can turn this run of form around sooner rather than later, or they risk falling away from the top six, and he risks losing his job.
