Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to secure the signing of Ibrahima Konate, with the Liverpool defender emerging as one of the club’s priority targets for the future.
According to AS, the Spanish giants have reactivated contacts with the French international’s representatives and are now working on a contract proposal that would tie the defender to the club for four years with the option of an additional season.
The move comes after a period in which Real Madrid had temporarily cooled their interest, only to return to the operation as circumstances changed.
With competition growing across Europe, the Los Blancos are keen to move fast and position themselves ahead of several heavyweight rivals.
As reported before, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remains a strong admirer of Konate and sees an opportunity to strengthen the defence without the need to pay a transfer fee.
Notably, the French centre-back has attracted attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

In that regard, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and several leading Premier League sides are all believed to be monitoring his situation closely.
That growing interest is one of the reasons why Real Madrid are increasing their efforts to sign the Frenchman.
We have mentioned before that contacts between Real Madrid and the player’s camp have resumed in recent weeks as the club explores the conditions required to complete the operation.
Since Konate would arrive as a free agent, the primary focus would be on agreeing personal terms and a signing bonus rather than negotiating a fee with Liverpool.
AS also reports that a contract formula of four years plus an optional fifth season is currently being considered as part of the proposal.

For Real Madrid, the possibility of signing a player entering his prime years without a transfer fee represents an attractive market opportunity.
Interestingly, one of the most significant details emerging from the report is the approval given by Jose Mourinho.
It is said that the Portuguese coach has backed the operation and believes Konate possesses qualities that would strengthen the defensive structure of the team.
It must be remembered that Mourinho has always valued physically dominant defenders and Konate’s profile fits in well with the Portuguese.
For now, Perez’s team is working to accelerate the operation before rival clubs intensify their efforts and we could see a conclusion sooner rather than later.
