Real Madrid appear to be quietly progressing on one of their off-field priorities, which is extending Aurelien Tchouameni’s deal.
Spanish journalist Alberto Pereiro, a regular voice on Onda Cero who follows the club closely, has flagged the topic as one of the matters now gaining traction inside the club.
Tchouameni’s current contract runs until 2028, which gives both player and club breathing room.
That window, however, has not stopped the club from weighing improvements and longer-term security for the French midfielder, a staple of Real Madrid’s central spine since his arrival.
Several outlets have reported Real’s intention to discuss a pay-rise and an extension that would reflect his importance to Xabi Alonso’s project.
From the player’s side there are encouraging signals.
Recent profiles and interviews suggest Tchouameni is committed to the club and aware of the expectations that come with wearing the shirt, which reduces the chances of a protracted standoff over terms.

Several media outlets have portrayed him as willing to build his future at Real Madrid, which would be a helpful backdrop for talks that the club would prefer to keep calm and constructive.
Securing Tchouameni now would protect Real Madrid from external interest and stabilise their midfield planning ahead of upcoming transfer windows.
It also fits a trend at the club to lock down key performers with longer contracts rather than risk late, disruptive negotiations.
If both parties remain aligned, as current reporting suggests, a formal renewal could be agreed without headline-grabbing drama.
So far this season, the midfielder has made 15 appearances in all competitions, clocking more than 1,200 minutes.
The player recent picked up a muscle problem and expected to be out for three weeks.
If the reports are to be believed, he could be available for the UEFA Champions League game against Olympiacos (26 November) or the La Liga match vs Girona on 30th November.
