In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are set to rival Manchester City for Elche midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Spanish talent next year.
Mendoza has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Spanish club as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 20-year-old has found the back of the net twice in ten matches for Elche this season on all fronts.
The Spanish talent has been a good performer in the middle of the field after he made seven tackles, four blocks, two interceptions and one clearance in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield, based on his pass completion rate of 82.7% in league football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to land him on the cheap next year.

Mendoza is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
The Spanish sensation can even chip in by scoring the odd goal for his team. Mendoza is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play in the number ten position if told to do so. He already knows La Liga well and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Real Madrid.
We can expect Mendoza to bring more quality and depth to Los Blancos head coach Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club and could help them challenge across all competitions in the coming years
At 20, the future looks quite bright for Mendoza as long as he continues to improve with each season. Hence, he would be a good fit for Real Madrid’s needs in the long run.
