The same trio of Letexier, Mugnier, and Rahmouni also refereed Arsenal’s Champions League win away to Real Madrid last season, which was the first and only time Letexier has refereed an Arsenal match.

Though some Arsenal players would have been familiar with the referee already, as he previously took charge of the Euro 2024 final. Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka all played in that match, with David Raya and Eberechi Eze on the benches.

Letexier is an experienced Champions League referee, having refereed three quarter-finals, two round-of-16 matches, and 16 group stage or league phase games. Most recently, he refereed the exciting 4-4 draw between Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal fans will probably hope for a little less back-and-forth excitement on Wednesday night, with a routine win the ideal outcome from the Olympiacos clash.
