The international break has now come to an end, and Real Madrid are gearing up for their return to action this weekend. They will be without the suspended Fede Valverde for the trip to Mallorca, which presents a chance for Jude Bellingham to make a return to the starting line-up for the first time in two months.

Bellingham tore his hamstring in early February, and after spending six weeks on the sidelines, he returned during the Madrid derby pre-international break. He will be pushing for a start ahead of a crucial run of matches for Los Blancos, headlined by the upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich.

However, it will be difficult for Bellingham to start against Mallorca, as Real Madrid consider to be cold after he played no part in England’s two matches during the international break – a decision that club bosses cannot understand, as Marca advance.

Real Madrid had hoped Bellingham would get some minutes

Initially, Real Madrid were not happy about Bellingham’s call-up, but there was little they could do to stop him going. When he did travel back to his homeland, they hoped he could continue improving his match sharpness with some important minutes, but in the end, the decision was made for him not to play.

Real Madrid are bemused by this, and there is also a feeling of annoyance. If it was determined that Bellingham would not be involved in the matches, they would have much preferred him to remain at Valdebebas for the international break. Instead, they will only be able to work with him for a couple of days before the trip to Son Moix on Saturday.

Because of this, it is very unlikely that Bellingham is risked from the start against Mallorca, although he will have chances to make a significant contribution from the bench. Valverde’s place in the line-up is much more likely to go to the likes of Eduardo Camavinga or Franco Mastantuono.
