Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan on a four-year contract to 2030 after activating his €20m release clause. The 30-year-old right-back fulfils a pledge made by Florentino Pérez during his presidential campaign.

He will link up with José Mourinho, who has returned to the Real Madrid dugout, and will succeed Dani Carvajal, who left at the end of his contract.

Real Madrid continue their rebuild after a trophyless season. Dumfries is the fourth signing of the summer, following free transfers for Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté, with Kylian Mbappé’s club also adding Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for more than €50m.

The Netherlands international was knocked out of the 2026 World Cup in the round of 32 by Morocco.

He departs Inter Milan after 207 appearances, having reached the Champions League final twice.
