Raul Asencio has proven himself to be a largely reliable option in defence for Real Madrid since his breakthrough last season.
Stepping up in the time of need, when senior defenders such as Eder Militao, David Alaba, and Antonio Rudiger struggled with injuries, the 23-year-old La Fabrica graduate has established himself as a first-team player.
However, heading into the summer transfer window there may be some question marks over the Spaniard’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Indeed, according to El Mundo, there are voices at Valdebebas who would not rule out Asencio’s sale in the summer if ‘interesting’ offers arrive.
The 23-year-old centre-back is largely seen as a backup option at Real Madrid, with Eder Militao and Dean Huijsen considered the first-choice defensive pairing for the foreseeable future.
That, coupled with the fact that Antonio Rudiger is likely to pen a new deal and the club are planning on signing a new defender in the summer, could impact Asencio’s future adversely.

The Spanish centre-back’s dip in form over the past couple of months has not helped matters either.
As such, there are voices within Real Madrid who would open the doors to the academy graduate’s departure in the summer if there are any attractive offers.
Reports have suggested that Premier League club Everton are looking at Asencio as an option for the summer.
So far this season, Asencio has made 30 appearances across all competitions, even chipping in with two goals and an assist. His contract at Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2031.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid decide to keep hold of the 23-year-old for next season or end up parting ways with him.
