Real Madrid’s midfield could be set for another shake-up as Dani Ceballos edges closer to leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to MARCA journalist Matteo Moretto, Thiago Pitarch has already been identified as a potential replacement within the squad.

The young Castilla midfielder has caught Xabi Alonso’s eye and may be ready to step into a bigger role if Ceballos finalises his move away.

The ‘Last Dance’

It must be remembered that Ceballos himself fuelled speculation after Madrid’s 3-0 win over Real Oviedo by posting a cryptic “Last Dance” message on social media.

The post has been interpreted by many as a farewell note, suggesting his time in Madrid could be coming to an end.

Talks are ongoing with Olympique de Marseille, who are pushing to sign the midfielder. While there is no final agreement yet, negotiations are advancing, with the fee expected to be between €10 and €15 million.

Pitarch steps into the spotlight

Ceballos’ potential departure would not only mark the end of his Madrid journey but also leave a new gap in midfield following Luka Modric’s exit earlier this summer.

However, Xabi Alonso has already shown faith in his academy talents, with Pitarch receiving minutes in both of Madrid’s opening fixtures against Osasuna and Oviedo.

Pitarch, one of the brightest prospects from La Fabrica, recently signed a new deal after turning 18, committing his future to the club.

His ability to dictate play from midfield, combined with maturity beyond his years, makes him an exciting option for Alonso as the squad transitions into a new era.

While Ceballos’s departure may come as a surprise with just a week left in the transfer window, Real Madrid’s long-term strategy is to give opportunities to young players who can grow into first-team roles and Pitarch is a part of that strategy.
