Heading into this week, Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa was facing a selection dilemma in the left-back position.
The Spaniard had the luxury of choosing from Alvaro Carreras, Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia in that wider defensive role.
However, it appears not all three of them will be available when Real Madrid take on Bayern Munich at Santiago Bernabeu tomorrow.
According to ESPN, Ferland Mendy has been practically ruled out of the first-leg encounter against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The Frenchman, who had been nursing a fresh injury, was expected to return after the international break. But it appears his recovery is taking longer than expected.

There is a possibility Mendy could return to action on April 15, when Los Blancos travel to Allianz Arena for the second leg. But he has been ruled out of the first-leg encounter.
Real Madrid are hopeful Mendy will be able to recover for the second leg, as many will be counting on his expertise to stop the onslaught of Michael Olise, who is regarded as one of the best wingers on the planet these days.
The most likely outcome, therefore, is Carreras continuing in the left-back position ahead of Garcia, even though the former SL Benfica starlet was one of three players singled out after the poor performance against Mallorca over the weekend.
Carreras, therefore, needs to up his game when Real Madrid play hosts to Bayern Munich tomorrow, especially now that the Bavarians will likely be able to count on the services of star striker Harry Kane.
