Real Madrid've officially renewed the contract of young defender Joan Martinez reinforcing their long term strategy to retain and develop the most promising academy players for the 1st team’s future.

Nicknamed the "new Ramos" due to his playing style & similarities with former captain Sergio Ramos, Martinez's already trained with the 1st team.

He gained the trust of ex coach Carlo Ancelotti last season before suffering cruciate ligament injury in training.

Having fully recovered from his ACL injury, Martinez's now available for selection.
