Brazil’s World Cup dream came to a heartbreaking end against Norway, but much of the attention after the final whistle shifted towards Real Madrid forward Endrick

The 19-year-old has found himself at the centre of the post-match debate after missing a golden opportunity that could have changed the outcome of the Round of 16 clash.

The defeat has sparked widespread discussion across Brazil, with former players and pundits analysing the youngster’s performance on one of football’s biggest stages.

Despite the criticism surrounding his missed chance, Endrick has now addressed the situation for the first time since Brazil’s elimination, sharing an emotional message on social media.

The statement comes after a difficult tournament for the Real Madrid youngster, who was unable to score during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and now turns his attention back to club football ahead of Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge.

Endrick’s message after World Cup disappointment

Against Norway, Endrick was handed another opportunity to make an impact after coming off the bench.

The decisive moment arrived when Vinicius Jr. played a superb pass that left the striker through on goal.

However, a heavy first touch allowed the chance to slip away, and the forward was unable to convert.

Moments later, Erling Haaland scored the goal that secured a historic victory for Norway and ended Brazil’s World Cup campaign.

In the aftermath of the defeat, Endrick shared a heartfelt message with supporters on Instagram.

“It’s still hard to figure out how to comfort everyone the way I’d like to, but I know I have a lot of people to thank god, for this opportunity.

“My family, for their love and support; and all Brazilians for their cheers and encouragement.

“My pride in our history and the hope that we’ll win the biggest trophy again will continue to guide me every day, and on each one, I’ll do my best so that we can be together again—and stronger than ever.”

Romario questions Endrick after missed opportunity

Before Endrick released his statement, Brazil legend Romario had already shared his thoughts on the youngster’s display.

The former striker acknowledged the Real Madrid player’s enormous potential but argued that performing at the highest level means accepting responsibility regardless of age.

“I like Endrick. He is going to be a player who will bring us a lot of joy… But against Norway, he was terrible.

“Then people say, ‘ah, but Endrick is young’… F*ck that, f*ck if he is young! He has to score that goal. Young, middle-aged, old, f*ck it,” he had said.
